[Story Plot Summary]

• The comic starts with a boy named Jamie and his grandfather being out in the desert collecting....sand? Lmaoooo 

• Anyway, so basically they run into this injured deaf girl named Abbie who’s trapped in a sandstorm with her Moa (basically like an ostrich type creature). Anyways, so Jamie and gramps take Abbie back to their town called little Marigold, which is hella quaint and cute

  • By the way, Abbie was in the desert to spread her mother’s ashes

• Jamie lives with his aunt, Nifrain, who’s a doctor as well as his grandfather who’s a sand collector or whatever. Lol

• Jamie’s biological parents left him when he was a child in order to live off the land or something. In any case, as Abbie recovers from her wounds thanks to Nifrain, she and Jamie start to develop a friendship and go on these hijinks together

• You realize Jamie definitely feels a way about his parents’ abandonment and that despite Abbie’s non-expressive demeanor, she kind of grows to like him a bit. Around this time, a foreign man comes in and basically robs the village

• He’s what’s called a “parasai”, a magical kind of person historically in charge of protecting civilian groups. But in Marigold, parasai often go rogue and terrorize hoes 

• Nifrain clocks Abbie and realizes she’s a parasai too and encourages her to leave

• Abbie starts to make preparations to leave much to Jamie’s chagrin. But before she can, a group of 4 rogue parasai roll up and start with the bullshit

• Jamie claps back which gets that ass in trouble

• Abbie wasn’t around initially, but after being discovered and having the vase holding her mother’s ashes destroyed, Abbie decides the only solution is to open a can of Grade A, organic Whoop-Ass

• So she rocks they shit and them bitches couldn’t take

• After the ass whooping, the town slick is like “omg a parasai” towards Abbie, but also highkey she just saved y’all so I mean... 

• But anyways the mayor’s like “you gotta go sis” and Jamie again claps back and is like absolutely not. 

• He accuses the town of being cowardly which was shade cuz honestly sis has been ready to leave Marigold for a MINUTE

• Wtf happened next...oh yeah then umm Jamie catches up with Abbie and is like “please let me go with you” even tho niggas literally don’t know where Abbie’s going

• She acquiesces and says yes and they both go back and say bye to Nifrain and gramps and the two leave the town in the middle of the night

• Very much anime tease, let’s talk about how beautifully this shit is animated 

• Prediction: I think Jaime’s parents leaving him was far more layered than initially stated 

• Thoughts on Jaime joining Abbie? If the journey is to spread her mom’s ashes, isn’t that...idk...personal? 

• Is the town justified in making Abbie leave? Would positioning her as a town protector have been better?
